It’s time to vote for the three 2019 Perpetual Trophy categories:


The Gareth Bevan Award – Most Valuable Club Person

Gareth Bevan was the main instigator of the Stirling Comets Netball Club and kept the club together in the early days when at Stonehenge. She was a coach and umpire in the 1960s and was a life member.

This award will be awarded to a person within the club (doesn’t have to be a player) that has made a valuable contribution to the Stirling Comets Netball Club during 2019.

This year’s nominees are:

  • Bruno Bellon – always on hand to help sweep or squeegee the courts before the game, happy to put his hand up to assist with BBQ, timing & scoring.
  • Heather Holmes – an outstanding job with club communications and she is always willing to assist with club functions. Great Team Manager. Also should be recognised as a very committed parent driving Michala around ALL day on Saturday. Time for parents to be recognised!
  • Georgie Loxton – captains seniors and plays juniors as well as coaching and umpiring. Georgie will do anything for the better of the club or teams.
  • Meredith McArthur – dedicates many hours each week to the club in her role on the committee as the Recording Officer. Meredith also coaches a junior team and plays in C1 senior team where she has been a driving force in both winter and summer seasons for many years.
  • Nel Middleton – coaches the A2 & B1 teams; she runs weekly training for all senior teams and coordinates specialist training sessions for both junior and senior teams. Every week you will see Nel at games offering support and encouragement to the players and coaches.
  • Trudy Mossop – spends much of her time within the club as Umpire Coordinator mentoring and developing up and coming umpires as part of the green shirt program. She has improved umpire numbers and standards at the club.
  • Lisa Nairn – is always volunteering to help out with everything in the club. Lisa also contributes a considerable amount of her personal time as the club committee Secretary. She displays a positive and honest approach when supporting players within the club.
  • Anthony Southon – for the tireless work he has done after hours and behind the scenes with the council working through the new location for the club.
  • Libby Tweeddale – plays, umpires, and represents the Comets at both Club and Association level. She is a dedicated Club member who supports and encourages young Comets. Libby willingly helps out with social events and cleaning of the club. She contributes above and beyond her role.

The Jenny Richards Award – Most Valuable Senior Player

Jenny Richards has been in involved with SCNC as a player, coach and umpire for over 40 years. Jenny kept the club together when numbers fell and saw the amalgamation of Stirling and Stirling East.

Awarded to a senior player who has contributed above and beyond.

This year’s nominees are:

  • Meredith McArthur – is a positive role model in both her game and the way she approaches everything in the club. She dedicates many hours each week to the club in her role on the committee as the Recording Officer.
  • Lisa Nairn – is always volunteering to help out with everything in the club. Lisa also contributes a considerable amount of her personal time as the club committee Secretary. She displays a positive and honest approach when supporting players within the club.
  • Lilli Rasheed – plays in the A’s plus coaches two junior teams, she is a very supportive and enthusiastic coach, providing her teams with a variety of fitness and skill-based training. Lilli is a positive role model who is always encouraging to everyone at the club. This year she was on the team selection committee.
  • Libby Tweeddale – a super amazing spirit, doing so much for the club in umpiring and playing, and showing her utmost support to everyone regardless of who they are.

Most Dedicated Junior 

Awarded each year to a junior player who has contributed above and beyond.

This year’s nominees are:

  • Michala Holmes – is a lovely role model who coaches, plays, umpires and is currently enrolled in the Academy umpiring program which trains umpires to get ready for their B badge. She will always say yes with a smile on her face when asked to umpire or play another game. She is very passionate and she puts a lot of effort into everything!
  • Georgie Loxton – plays umpires and coaches for the club. She is also incredibly willing to help out when senior teams are short. Georgie has a wonderful club attitude and has captained the B1 team showing great leadership. She will do anything for the better of the club or teams.
  • Kate Strutton – plays and has umpired as part of the green shirt program for the past two seasons, she brings a positive attitude to the club.
