The Gareth Bevan Award – Most Valuable Club Person

Gareth Bevan was the main instigator of the Stirling Comets Netball Club and kept the club together in the early days when at Stonehenge. She was a coach and umpire in the 1960s and was a life member.

This award will be awarded to a person within the club (who doesn’t have to be a player) that has made a valuable contribution to the Stirling Comets Netball Club during 2019.

This year’s nominees are:

  • Lisa Nairn – Very positive and encouraging. Gives everything and more to the club. Helps young and new coaches. Works tirelessly getting answers for the club from the HNA and Council.
  • Alix Newberry – She’s head coach, coaches B2s, plays, always out supporting. Super encouraging of everyone and great Comet spirit!!!

The Jenny Richards Award – Most Valuable Senior Player

Jenny Richards has been involved with SCNC as a player, coach and umpire for over 40 years. Jenny kept the club together when numbers fell and saw the amalgamation of Stirling and Stirling East.

Awarded to a senior player who has contributed above and beyond.

This year’s nominees are:

  • Eleanor Carter – plays and coaches younger ones. Encouraging, positive and great team player. Dedicated to the team and always at training. Watches lots of other games each week and joined the committee this year in the fundraising role.
  • Alix Newbury – New committee member as the Coach Coordinator, invested time in supporting and developing coaches. She’s also quick to step in when coaches are not available. A very positive person and very committed to the club.
  • Rylee Zobel – Coach younger team, played 100% every game. Always at training. Encourages the team.
  • Michala Holmes – A senior player, umpiring every week and involved in running the Net Set program for the up and coming Comets.

Most Dedicated Junior

Awarded each year to a junior player who has contributed above and beyond.

This year’s nominees are:

  • Daisy Bratchell – played in the Inters 2 team and coached the U9’s this year and she jumped at the chance when asked to play in the C1 team. She has committed herself to all training sessions and games each week. A great role model who deserves to be recognised.
  • Charlotte Cowan – always tries their hardest and listens to coaches
  • Georgie Eyres – Coaching a team of newbie GO/U9s is a challenge for anyone let alone first-time coaches who are only high-school age themselves. The training was pitched at the appropriate level and they were able to maintain focus for the most part! Great effort.
  • Bonnie Lindsay – Always happy to play in any position on the court and a little gun at netball.

Voting closes midnight Saturday, September 4, 2021.
